{"id":989692,"date":"2025-01-18T23:26:52","date_gmt":"2025-01-19T05:26:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsic.us\/news\/?p=989692"},"modified":"2025-01-19T23:28:16","modified_gmt":"2025-01-20T05:28:16","slug":"mbzuai-welcomes-the-world-to-abu-dhabi-for-a-leading-nlp-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsic.us\/news\/mbzuai-welcomes-the-world-to-abu-dhabi-for-a-leading-nlp-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"MBZUAI welcomes the world to Abu Dhabi for a leading NLP conference"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>The 31st International Conference on Computational Linguistics (COLING 2025), hosted by<\/em>\u00a0Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence<em>\u00a0(MBZUAI), is held in Abu Dhabi, 19-24 January 2025.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>This is the first time it is held in the Middle East,\u00a0<\/em><em>featuring workshops and tutorials, over 850 papers, and the first ever Winter School on Arabic NLP.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates, Jan. 18, 2025 &#8212; The\u00a031st International Conference on Computational Linguistics (COLING 2025)\u00a0launches in Abu Dhabi tomorrow (19 January), with local organizers Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) welcoming more than 1,500 global attendees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Organized under the auspices of the International Committee on Computational Linguistics (ICCL), COLING takes place at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from 19-24 January, 2025, with a co-located event \u2013 the first ever\u00a0Winter School on Arabic Natural Language Processing, co-organized by NYU Abu Dhabi and MBZUAI and taking place from 18 &#8211; 19 January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Supported by the\u00a0Abu Dhabi Convention and Exhibition Bureau (ADCEB), part of the\u00a0Department of Tourism and Culture \u2013 Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), this is the first time COLING is being held in the Middle East. It will include\u00a022 workshops,\u00a0nine tutorials, keynote speeches, and the Winter School \u2013 designed to advance knowledge and skills in Arabic NLP research and development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCOLING 2025 brings together the brightest minds in AI and computational linguistics, creating an unparalleled opportunity for dialogue and innovation,\u201d said Professor Preslav Nakov, Department Chair and Professor of NLP at MBZUAI, and Chair of the local organizing committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs language technology continues to redefine the way humans interact with machines, we are looking forward to exploring how these advancements can be leveraged to solve regional and global challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Established in 1965, the biennial conference attracts participants and contributions from research centers, academic institutions, industrial research departments and tech start-ups around the world.
